(Please feel free to leave a memory or photo in the comments below)
Nate touched the lives of everyone he met; praise God that his body is now perfect, and his heart is whole.
From Diane Metheny, Nate's mom:
Nate is our beautiful son with WS who passed away in 2013 (age 6) from cardiac issues. Being the parent of a child in heaven is like being in a club you never wanted to join, but as the years have gone by, our grief has been tempered by the joy of seeing how our son’s life continues to impact those in our community. I am writing to share an example of this with you.
Our daughter was 9 when her brother died. As she’s grown into a young woman, she has made many friends. One of her best friends from high school is Tori. Tori never got to meet Nate, but that hasn’t stopped her from wanting to honor his short, amazing life and weave his story into her support for those in our community who are like Nate.
Tori has founded an organization at her school, Virginia Commonwealth University, to support individuals with developmental disabilities through education and volunteering. In our son’s honor, she and her co-founders have given their club the name, “Nate’s Promise”. We are so honored! Our family is touched by the dedication of these students who never knew our son, who wish to empower and help those in the Richmond area with challenges like those Nate had.
