No family walks this journey alone.

One of the most powerful part of belonging to the WSA is knowing that you’re not alone in this journey. We’re thrilled to share our plans to launch our new WSA Family Network in late 2026/early 2027. The WSA Family Network is a structured program designed to ensure that every individual with Williams syndrome and every family touched by WS has a clear, accessible point of contact for support in their state — no matter where they live.

What This Network Does

Local connection

Families in every state have a go-to person who knows the WS community, their resources, and their needs.

Resource navigation

State Leads know local systems — Medicaid waivers, housing programs, special education — so families don't have to figure it out alone.

Community events

Volunteers across the country organize connection events, fundraisers, and awareness activities that bring the WS community together locally.

WSA-backed support

Families in each state are supported by a State Lead, who is supported by an Area Lead and the WSA, so no one carries the work alone.

How It's Structured

The WSA Family Network is built around two leadership roles. Area Leads are contract or volunteer positions supporting multiple states within their area, ensuring State Leads have the resources, guidance, and support they need to thrive in their roles. Each state is represented by a volunteer State Lead who serves as the primary connection point for families within their state, helping navigate local resources and systems, helping families find the WSA when they need it most, and guiding volunteers in their efforts to create connection events and fundraisers. Together, this network will extend the WSA's reach into communities across the country, making sure no family walks their journey alone.

Area Lead

  • Contracted or volunteer position
  • Supports multiple states within their area, ensuring State Leads have the resources, guidance, and backing they need. Three areas: Western, Central, and Eastern.

State Lead

  • Volunteer position
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for families in their state — helping families find the WSA when they need it most and guiding local volunteers in connection and fundraising efforts.

Who We're Looking For

To prepare to launch this powerful network, we need to find the right team of people who are ready to partner together to provide support to other families - and that’s where you may come in! Our first priority is to fill the Area Lead roles, followed by the State Leads.

If you’re interested in applying for an Area Lead position, please review the job description and complete an interest form by Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

Both roles are open to active WSA members with a direct relative with Williams syndrome. We're looking for people who are passionate about the WS community, reliable communicators, and ready to help families in their state or area feel supported and connected.

  • Active WSA member with a direct relative with WS
  • Consistent, reliable communicator
  • Knowledgeable about state-level resources and systems
  • Proactive, encouraging, and motivated to support others
