Summer 2008 will be the fifth season for our new camping opportunity in Michigan. The Williams Syndrome Music and Enrichment Camp at Indian Trails (Whispering Trails Camp) was initiated to provide an appropriate summer enrichment opportunity for teens and young adults with Williams syndrome.
There will be 2 separate “activity tracks” during our week at Indian Trails. Campers may choose the music or the enrichment program camping experience. For some campers the appropriate program is one steeped in music – that will nurture the innate musicality that is present in many individuals with Williams syndrome. For others, the appropriate
program is one of traditional camp activities. This year we also have an option for a combined program consisting of elements of both music and enrichment programs. Regardless of the program you choose, each day will offer an exciting array of activities.
For those choosing the music experience, activities will include daily “individual” music lessons, and group music activities such as theater and/or chorus amd Band. Additionally, campers will be able to elect activities from a menu of choices including:
- Swimming
- Basketball/team building
- Dance
- Archery
- Arts & Crafts
For those choosing the enrichment experience, each day will include traditional camp recreational activities such as:
- Swimming
- Archery
- Boating
- Basketball
- Team Building Skills
- Dance
- Hiking
- Arts & Crafts
