Newport, Rhode Island Half Marathon Campaign

On October 17, Team Mari, headed by WSA member Jim Valente, will run the Amica Half Marathon, Newport Rhode Island in an effort to raise awareness about Williams syndrome and generate funding for the programs and initiatives of the Williams Syndrome Association.

Your support of the WSA community can provide vital, day-to-day programs. The WSA is a volunteer driven organization. We are parents, grandparents, relatives, friends and legal guardians of people with Williams syndrome. We know first-hand the challenges of raising and caring for an individual with special needs.

Since its inception, the WSA has helped nearly 5,000 families of individuals with Williams syndrome. But there are thousands more who need our support, and there’s much more to be done. By supporting the WSA, you will help create opportunities for people with Williams syndrome and help accelerate research that could have far broader implications.

We support Team Mari's 13.1 mile goal, and so can you!

Meet Team Mari:
There is a beauty particular to adoption-the mystical joining of
souls that in retrospect seems foreordained

-William McGurn

Since Mari joined our family 11 years ago, she has brought more joy to us then we could ever have imagined. She is a child filled with love. Finding out she had Williams Syndrome has opened so many doors that have made a huge impact on Mari’s life. We would now like to give something back. Our family and friends have joined together to make Team Mari, to celebrate her life and raise funds for the Williams Syndrome Association. On October 17th we will run the half marathon in Newport. We thank you for your generous support.
